Families that play together laugh together.
Families that laugh together…are eager to do it again!
SoFun® invites you to gather your family together and play. You’ll laugh – so will they – and chances are good that you’ll want to do it again real soon.
Of course we hope you play a SoFun® game. But, remember, the play is the thing that’s important!
Here’s how it’s done:
First Step:
Make the invitation! That sounds simple, doesn’t it? It’s not always easy though. Here are some tips to consider.
1. Make a Date! Make the invitation for a future time. We’re humans and we need time to get used to the idea. No offense, but if you ask a family member to stop what they’re doing and play a game, they may tell you, “No!” So make a date that makes sense for all of you. Pick a time that’s within just a few days (not much longer) and establish that time as the Play Date. Mark it on your calendar and announce that the date is set!
2. Be enthused! Why would anyone want to play with someone who doesn’t act like they want to play? Put a smile on your face. Show some excitement for the upcoming Play Date. Yes, it’s going to be FUN!
3. Be specific! Tell your family exactly what they’re going to do. Pick a game and tell them what it is. And what if they don’t want to play that game? Have them pick one but give them some options. “Would you rather play Chards® or would you rather Parlinks®?” Yes, we know, we’re pushing our games again. But you get the idea. You could select other games as well.
Second Step:
Get everything ready. Preparation is very important for any event and it’s important that even in play, you have everything you need. Here are some tips to consider:
1. Have the game ready. Will you need pencils? Will you need paper? If you’re using chips, will you have enough?
2. Have the playing area ready. Is there a table or space available? Will you have enough chairs? Is there enough light for everyone to see? Make sure everyone is comfortable when they play.
3. Have refreshments. People like to munch when they play. Pick something that is not oily or messy because that can make a mess of your game. Above all, make it simple. You’re not playing if you’re busy fixing something to eat. Remember, even if you’re the one that invited them, you get to play too!
Third Step:
Play – Have FUN! That might sound simple but make sure everyone has FUN. Little ones may need your help to be included. Big ones may need to be encouraged to try something new. Relax and make sure others enjoy doing so too. We encourage you to laugh – have FUN – enjoy each other! It’s SoFun®!
That’s it! Three steps to having a Family SoFun® Time! Oh, there is one more thing. Repeat the process soon and often. Making Family FUN a regular occurrence helps all that other good stuff that makes it great to be together.
